My favorite genre is action/adventure because I've always enjoyed story driven games much more than puzzle or strategy games. Games in the action/adventure genre are usually more story focused and cinematic, which I find much more appealing than mindless, addictive, or casual games.
I enjoy RPGs, role playing games. Usually the player completes a story line through the completion of quests. I like how RPGs are usually based on tactical battle. I like the greater use of strategy in battle more than other games where the objective is just to hit the opponent rather than actually needing to think about it.
